The French youth international has made his first-team breakthrough this season.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be one of three Premier League teams interested in the signing of talented French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

Spurs are apparently big fans of the midfielder, who has recently become a regular in the Lorient midfield, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

The 17-year-old, who is also a French under-18 international, is a talented central midfield player with a bright future ahead of him in the game and Tottenham are clearly hopeful they can pip the competition to bring him in. That competition is set to come from Benfica, Wolfsburg and Juventus – with all three also keen on the player.

Lorient are currently bottom of Ligue 1 and if they do not turn around their form then relegation to Ligue 2 is undoubtedly a potential outcome from what has been a difficult season at the club.

With relegation looming there will be a fear at Lorient that perhaps they could lose their best young talent and Tottenham will be one of many clubs looking to swoop on the main gem in Guendouzi.

Spurs fans will want to keep tabs on the midfielder in the weeks and months to come.
