The Newcastle United striker was on the scoresheet in Serbia’s 1-1 draw with Wales on Saturday.
Quoted by the Chronicle, Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has backed ‘great manager’ Rafa Benitez to improve Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The striker was in the headlines for the right reasons on Saturday as he scored a dramatic late equaliser to seal a point for Serbia against Wales.
It was his sixth goal in his last seven games for club and country as he continues to impress.

That means he is now two strikes away from equalling the nine goals he managed in all competitions last season.
His fine form has been attributed to working under manager Benitez in some areas and Ivanovic has backed the Spaniard to help him keep improving.
“He (Mitrovic) can improve a lot and we hope so, because as a country we need that leader up front,” the Chronicle quotes him saying.
“He has a great manager who is good with young talent. He can learn every day, he just needs to be strong.”

First and foremost Mitrovic must focus on getting himself back into the Newcastle team.
He has found himself out of the first 11 this year as summer signing Dwight Gayle has impressed as the Magpies’ leading man.
He has 11 goals in all competitions to his name so far and Mitrovic must attempt to take his place in the team so that he can establish himself as Serbia’s leading man also.
