According to a report in The Sun, Aston Villa are hoping to sign Beram Kayal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January.
The Seagulls are challenging for promotion to the Premier League, but Kayal’s future at the AMAX looks far from certain.
The former Celtic midfielder has not penned a new deal with Brighton, with his current contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.
Villa are, therefore, hopeful that they can secure a cut price deal at the next opportunity.
Villa boss Steve Bruce is a huge fan of the Israeli international, and tried to sign him from Hull City but was unsuccessful.
He now reportedly wants Kayal to be his first addition at Villa, as he looks to strengthen the claret and blues’ midfield ranks.
Bruce is set to be backed with funds in the January transfer window, as Villa look to continue their climb up the Championship table.
The Villans started the new campaign in poor form, but they have been unbeaten in five games since Bruce took charge - and now sit in 14th place in the second tier standings.
