Seamus Coleman and Pedro Obiang won more tackles than any other player.

This weekend’s fixtures did not prove to be good ones for both Everton and West Ham as they both failed to pick up wins.

Everton suffered defeat at Stamford Bridge as they were hammered by Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side, who ran out as 5-0 winners in a comprehensive display.

The Hammers, meanwhile, were left frustrated at the London Stadium once again as they drew 1-1 with Stoke City.

Their result was largely down to a mistake from goalkeeper Adrian, who allowed Bojan to score the equaliser in the game by inexplicably coming off his line.

In truth, neither side were particularly impressive in defence, especially the Toffees, who allowed Chelsea to have 21 shots on goal throughout their defeat.

It will come as a surprise then to find that two of their players were the best in the Premier League in one defensive area this weekend.

Defender Seamus Coleman and midfielder Pedro Obiang both managed to win six tackles apiece in their games, more than any posted across the other games.

Their tally saw them ahead of Ki Sung-yeung, Andy King, Matthew Lowton and Ashley Young, who all won five tackles each.

On a disappointing weekend for both teams, at least two players can walk away with their heads held high after besting their Premier League colleagues in one regard this weekend, although in Coleman's case his high figures are a reflection of the relentless pressure Everton came under from a rampant Chelsea.
