Liverpool striker Danny Ings was of interest to Leicester City, Stoke City and Sunderland in the summer.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Liverpool received enquiries from Sunderland, Leicester City and Stoke City over the summer transfer window for striker Danny Ings.

Sunderland, Leicester and Stoke were all keen on taking Ings, when it seemed that the striker could have been made available by Jurgen Klopp.

However, Liverpool turned down all advances for the 24-year-old, as Klopp was impressed by his attitude.

The German manager liked the way Ings fought back from injury, and also saw plenty of potential in the striker on the training ground.

As a result Sunderland, Leicester and Stoke were all forced to look elsewhere in their search for a new front man.

Sunderland brought in Victor Anichebe on a free transfer, Leicester signed Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa and Stoke snapped up Wilfried Bony.

Ings, meanwhile, has continued to be frustrated with injury at Anfield.

The former Burnley man has only just returned from a knee problem, but he now looks set to miss the rest of the season, after damaging his knee again during his comeback game for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur.
