Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton.
Micky Quinn has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 1st November, that he has heard Liverpool will make a bid for Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk in January.
Liverpool have reportedly been impressed by Van Dijk’s performance at St. Mary’s, since he arrived at the south coast club back in 2015.
The Dutch defender has caught the eye, with his commanding and consistent performances in the heart of the Saints’ defence.

Van Dijk has only recently signed a new long-term contract with Southampton, but Liverpool are apparently interested in attempting to make a deal for the centre-back.
“I believe they’re interested in Van Dijk, when the transfer window opens up,” Quinn revealed. “They love a Southampton player, they’ll probably go back again.”
Liverpool have brought in a host of players from Southampton in recent seasons, and they have had varying success at Anfield.

The likes of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Sadio Mane have moved from Southampton to Liverpool and are now playing key roles for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
However, the addition of Rickie Lambert from the Saints did not work out as planned, with the England international now playing for Cardiff City in the Championship.
If Liverpool do lodge a bid for Van Dijk, it is likely that they will have to pay a huge fee to have any chance of signing the former Celtic player.
