The Dutchman was heavily linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer.

Dutch defender Tom Beugelsdijk, who was heavily linked with a move to Leeds United this summer, has been speaking about that interest and his future today.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds boss Garry Monk deployed scouts to check on Beugelsdijk in action in August, and was left convinced by the 26-year-old.

No deal ever progressed however and now he is being linked with a move to Dutch giants Ajax in the Dutch press after an impressive start to the season.

But speaking to Soccer News this week he made it clear he does not see his future at Ajax, but would still welcome a move to England:

“I have not got the qualities to play for Ajax, so I have to be honest.

"Leeds United were interested, but it's not happened.

“Look, you cannot play your whole life for the same club. Footballers, we have until we’re 35 to earn. If you can in England for such a big club? I'm not saying no too soon. It's always been a dream for me to play football in England. But I'm not disappointed that I still play with ADO, you know."

There is no doubt that Beugelsdijk is very talented but Leeds seem to have their central defensive position sorted for the time being.

Leeds signed both Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson on loan in the summer and the pair have been in fantastic form since their arrivals.

However, both remain just temporary deals for the time being. If for one reason or another one of them was not signed permanently, there is no doubt that Beugelsdijk may be on Leeds’ radar once again.
