Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told The Independent that it is 'impossible' for Harry Kane to play against Bournemouth this weekend.

Spurs were in Champions League action on Tuesday evening as they travelled to Germany to take on Bayer Leverkusen, and they managed to pick up a respectable 0-0 draw – meaning they've now lost one, won one and drawn one of their three Champions League games this season.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino now has a few days to reflect on that result before Tottenham return to Premier League action, with an away trip to Bournemouth coming up on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs will hope to keep up their unbeaten start to the Premier League season there, though may need more cutting edge than they showed against Bayer Leverkusen and during Saturday's 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion.

Part of the problem is that summer signing Vincent Janssen has yet to open his account for the club since joining from AZ Alkmaar, and Spurs have certainly missed the injured Harry Kane in the last couple of games.

Kane, hit 59 goals in all competitions in the previous two seasons, and had scored twice this term before picking up an ankle injury against Sunderland on the 18th of September.

On Monday, Kane returned to the Tottenham training ground to start running again, but manager Pochettino has now completely ruled out any possibility of the striker playing against Bournemouth this weekend.

Speaking to The Independent after Tuesday's clash, Pochettino simply stated that it was 'impossible' for Kane to play on Saturday, adding that running on grass again is completely different to training with the rest of his team-mates.

“Impossible,” Pochettino said when asked about Kane playing. “It is one thing to start to run on the grass. Another thing is to train with the group and be fit to train with the team and compete. The good thing is he is running again on the pitch. Every day we will assess him,” he added.
