Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has been speaking about his exit from Tottenham Hotspur – as he signed a new contract with Real Madrid.
The midfield maestro has extended his deal at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2020, when he will be 34-years-old, and expects to remain at Real Madrid until he retires.

In confirming that this was his plan he commented on his exit from Spurs and on how he had developed since leaving White Hart Lane.
He is quoted by Yahoo! Sports as stating:
"There came a time at Tottenham where I had to change to improve and grow as a player. I did not doubt my quality and I knew that sooner or later I would succeed here, working every day in training and in the games. I've always had confidence in myself. I did not start well, but I never stopped believing in myself.

"I think I have developed as a player in these four years. I have more experience than before and need to keep on the same path to help the team to play well both in defence and attack. I must continue at the same level."
Modric was a key player at Tottenham Hotspur after joining the club from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008. He went on to have four fantastic seasons with the club but became the envy of many other clubs across Europe and eventually joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2012 in a big money move.

There is no doubt that he has gone on to become an even better player than he was whilst at Spurs, but fans of the London club will certainly feel he might have been able to achieve such success with the club if he had driven them forward.
Now he is a jewel in the crown in the Spanish capital and Tottenham fans can only think what might have been.
