The Chilean was shown his marching orders after a deliberate handball.
Manchester City were dealt a thrashing in the Champions League tonight. A hat-trick from Lionel Messi was ably assisted by Neymar’s late strike. Barcelona also missed a penalty in a game in which both teams ended up with ten men.
For City, it was a red card for Claudio Bravo on his return to the Nou Camp.
Manchester City's Claudio Bravo is shown a red card by referee Milorad Mazic
The Chilean goalkeeper made a complete mess of an attempted clearance outside his box before handling a subsequent effort from Luis Suarez to lob him.
His red card obviously got the internet talking.
Bravo was brought in to replace Joe Hart this summer – as the England number one did not suit the style of play that new manager Pep Guardiola wanted to install at the club.
Jamie Carragher quickly made fun out of that fact with this statement:
That's what Bravo was bought for! Playing a high line & using his feet!! #BARMCI— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) October 19, 2016
The former Liverpool man was not alone.
Gary Lineker also found the incident amusing:

Another for the genius that is Messi. That's 101 goals for MSN in 2016— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) October 19, 2016
Rodney Marsh, a former Manchester City player, seemed to find the less funny side of the incident and subsequent mauling:
>And there you have it my friends !!!!!— Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) October 19, 2016
>Nolito collateral damage in the Bravo fiasco...— Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) October 19, 2016
It was certainly not a happy return to Barcelona for either Bravo or his gaffer Pep Guardiola. But there will surely be an Englishman in Turin stifling a smile this evening.
