Everton assistant manager Erwin Koeman has explained how he and his brother Ronald are highly critical of the Everton squad, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

The Toffees have impressed under the tenure of the Dutchman, since his arrival in the summer, and they currently sit in sixth position in the Premier League table after four wins, a draw and a loss in their opening eight outings.

The Blues assistant manager discussed how, despite the technical quality amongst the Everton squad, he and his bother have to be critical of the players during training if they are to take the club to another level, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:

“We have a good squad and we will do better. We are very critical as a technical staff but you have to be very critical because everyday you can do better: the players, the technical staff, that is our vision.”

Ronald Koeman's ideas and philosophies seem to have been embraced whole-heartedly at Goodison Park, and the improvement from last season under the stewardship of Roberto Martinez has been clear for all to see.

Next up for Everton is a pair of winnable games away at Burnley and at home to West Ham United, before a trip to Chelsea.

If Koeman and co genuinely harbour ambitions for a top-four finish, a return of at least seven points will be needed from those games, and the way they have performed so far this season, there is no reason why they cannot achieve that.
