Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that he appreciates Kenny Jackett’s comments, where he said Leeds United look like a side who could make the top six.

Jackett was working as a pundit on Channel Five’s Football League tonight, when he talked up Leeds’ chances of making it into the play offs.

Monk was pleased to hear the comments, but the 37-year-old boss insists that a number of Championship teams will be aiming for the play offs.

“Obviously you appreciate other managers when they talk about their team in a good way like that,” Monk said.

“He knows the hard work that goes into everything that a manager has to do to get a good team together.

“But there’s a lot of teams thinking like that [they could make the top six].”

Leeds started the season in poor form, but their recent strong run has caught the eye.

Leeds have won five of their last seven matches in all competitions, and some of their performances have been very impressive.

Monk’s side even looked good during their defeat against Derby County at the iPro Stadium in their most recent fixture.

Leeds are currently four points away from the play offs, with their next match coming against Wigan Athletic and Elland Road this evening.
