Confirmed Spurs line-up v Bayer Leverkusen: Three changes in defence, Dembele on the bench

Tottenham take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League this evening.

Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up: Lloris, Trippier, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose; Wanyama; Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela; Janssen.

Tottenham Hotspur substitutes: Vorm, Carter-Vickers, Davies, Dembele, Onomah, Sissoko, Winks.

Tottenham Hotspur travel to take on Bayer Leverkusen this evening as Mauricio Pochettino's men return to Champions League action.

Spurs drew 1-1 away at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon, and must now turn their focus back to Europe as they look to get out of Group E.

The opening game against Monaco may have finished in a 2-1 defeat, but Spurs responded by beating CSKA Moscow 1-0 last time out – and will be hoping for much of the same this evening.

Thy face a tricky trip to face Bayer Leverkusen, and one player who will be desperate to impress is winger Heung-min Son, who left Leverkusen for Spurs in 2015.

Son starts out wide tonight in what appears to be a 4-1-4-1 system, with the South Korean winger and Erik Lamela offering support to lone striker Vincent Janssen.

That means that Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen start in central midfield, playing just ahead of anchor man Victor Wanyama, who will protect the back four.

The big news in defence is that three changes have been made from the team that started at West Brom. Kieran Trippier comes in for Kyle Walker at right back, Danny Rose returns in place of Ben Davies on the left, and Eric Dier has been chosen to fill in for the injured Toby Alderweireld.

Pochetino has named Davies on the bench, alongside young defender Cameron Carter-Vickers – ahead of Kevin Wimmer – as well as midfielders Mousa Dembele, Joshua Onomah, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks.
