Chris Sutton has claimed that Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is the most talked about player in England and has left clubs south of the border kicking themselves that they did not move for him in the summer, The Scottish Sun reports.

After a promising season for Fulham, the French striker decided to join Brendan Rodgers' side. And after making a brilliant start to life at Parkhead - he has scored 13 times in 18 games in all competitions - Sutton has suggested that clubs in England have made a massive mistake letting Dembele move elsewhere.

"Down south, he's the most talked-about player around," he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun. "Whether we like it or not, there's going to be interest in him, though Celtic will be doing their utmost to hang on to him.

"But Dembele’s essentially potential at the moment, so heaven help centre-halves when he's matured a bit. For £500,000 he is just an unbelievable signing.

"As we speak, there are probably recruitment people down south getting their backsides kicked and being asked: 'Why didn't we take a chance on him?'. Chairmen will be asking how they missed him."

As much as English clubs may regret not trying to sign the forward, Dembele has arguably joined the team that will give him the best chance of realising his potential.

The Hoops are on top in most of their fixtures, which gives the youngster plenty of opportunities in front of goal, which allows him to constantly work on his game in a competitive environment.

And with the Bhoys continuing to come up against some of Europe's heavyweights in the Champions League, he is also getting the chance to play against some of the best defenders in the game currently.

And it appears that the opportunity is already beginning to have a positive effect on Dembele's ability.

The impact that the 20-year-old has made is perhaps best exemplified by the fact that if Leigh Griffiths - who scored 40 goals in all competitions last season - was to be left out by Brendan Rodgers over the coming weeks, it would not be deemed to be that much of a gamble.
