Vidal is struggling for playing time at Barcelona at the moment and has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou.
Sky Sports journalist Balague has claimed that Barcelona are willing to let the Spain international defender leave in January.
“Because he hasn't got the quality that Barcelona requires, and he doesn't understand what Luis Enrique wants him to do,” Balague told Sky Sports when asked if Vidal will leave Barcelona in January.
“He's given him chances but he hasn't taken them. I saw him in the friendly against Sampdoria in the summer and he looked lost.
“The plan is to let him go in January on loan because he's not going to be used at all. Luis Enrique prefers to change a system than let Vidal play.”
Vidal has been able to make just one appearance in La Liga so far this season, while during the 2015-16 campaign, the right-back played only nine league matches.
It is clear that Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique does not fancy the former Sevilla defender as a key member of his team.
It would be best for Vidal if he finds a club in January and gets some playing time.
Sunderland, though, should be wary about signing a player in the January transfer window if he is not getting much playing time now.
After all, the Black Cats are struggling for survival in the Premier League and simply cannot afford to sign someone who is going to come to the club without playing much football.
