General view of St Andrews stadium
Alot of players have impressed so far this season at St Andrew's, with Birmingham rising up into the top six after the first 11 games. Manager Gary Rowett has a string of talent and quality within his ranks with a range of players to fall back on should they struggle later on in the season.
One youngster in particular who has grabbed the attention of many is Reece Brown and as reported by the Birmingham Mail, Rowett has commented on the 20-year-old's contract with the club.
The young playmaker had some issues last season after he was suspended due to an investigation into his professionalism, however he seems to be back on the right track towards making a real impact for the Blues.
“It’s a fine line with Reece. Do I want to give him stability for the next three or four years - after one game and a period of two months doing the right things?

“Or do I still want to find a way of keeping him hungry but reward the progress he has made? I think the latter is probably the way to go.
“Would he be a [more] special case than someone who works incredibly hard for the team without the ability?

“I know what you are saying, there would be a value to him as a young player and certainly we would try to protect that value.
Rowett seems like a manager who will not take any nonsense, which could be the exact approach that someone like Brown needs in this early stage of his career. The next task for this Birmingham side will be a trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on Friday.
