Leeds United have to take a chance on their young goalkeeper at some point.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio Leeds, goalkeeper Rob Green said he was hoping to remain at Elland Road beyond this season, but that would be bad news for a Leeds United prospect that has the potential to become a bona fide star.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell may only be 19, yet he is already regarded as one of the finest young English prospects between the posts, and the longer Green sticks around at Leeds the longer the teenager will have to wait for his chance to impress.

Leeds United's Robert Green

Of course the Leeds youngster can benefit from the presence of Green in terms of the advice he can offer and the development he can aid on the training field. But when it comes to playing games, Peacock-Farrell will no doubt be hoping it is not too long before the apprentice usurps the master.

New Leeds manager Garry Monk was never going to put his faith in a teenage ‘keeper in his first year at the club. However, once he grasps just how good this one is, he could change his mind in the years ahead.

Leeds' Robert Green in action

Green has not had the best of starts to life at Leeds, with some shaky performances that we should wait until the end of the current campaign to put into context.

But next summer Peacock-Farrell will be one year into his new two-year contract and it will only be a matter of time before he starts asking just when his chance will come if Green extends for another 12 months.
