Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Manchester United saw their 100 per cent start to the season come to an end on Saturday as they lost 2-1 to Manchester City at Old Trafford.

The Blues were by far the better side in the first half, taking a two-goal lead before Zlatan Ibrahimovic halved the deficit and United went all out for an equaliser that just would not come.

Manager Jose Mourinho must now put that match behind him and focus on the challenges ahead, with United’s next game coming on Thursday against Dutch club Feyenoord in the Europa League.

So far this season many of United’s fringe players have had to wait patiently for their chances, and this could offer the likes of Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Morgan Schneiderlin the opportunity to impress.

Mourinho will not want to suffer back-to-back defeats, but United have the strength in depth to ensure they still secure the three points despite plenty of changes.
