Leeds Under-23s drew with Crewe Alexandra this week.

Leeds United’s Under-23 coach Jason Blunt has told LUTV that young forward Malik Wilks that he still needs to tidy his overall game up.
The 17-year-old opened the scoring for Leeds’ youth side by poking home from close range after 70 minutes in Friday’s 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra.

Whites supporters raved about the teenager on Twitter after the clash with Crewe.
And while Blunt admits that Wilks has plenty of talent, the youth coach is adamant that he has a ways to go before he makes the jump to the senior set-up.
“He’s very explosive, and he has got lots of talent, but he does need to tidy his game up, because there is times when he loses possession” the ex-Leeds man told LUTV.
“But he’s young, but he’s raw and I’m sure if he was in front of a full house he would excite people, but he’s still got a lot to learn and that’s why he’s with this group.”

There is no lack of incentive for Wilks or any young Leeds man to break into Garry Monk’s first team, with the likes of Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips impressing in the senior side already this season.
Being just 18, Vieira might be the main role model for Leeds lads at Under-23 level, and the starlet penned a three-year professional contract earlier this week.
This will be the short-term goal for Wilks and his team-mates.
