Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Spanish duo Pau Lopez and Isco.

La Liga expert Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that Espanyol expect Pau Lopez to join Tottenham – but a deal for Real Madrid playmaker Isco is unlikely.

The transfer window slams shut tomorrow, meaning Spurs will have to move quickly if they are to add more new signings having landed Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen already this summer.

Spurs have been linked with a host of players this summer, but two of the more recent rumours have been surrounding Spanish players and their possible moves to White Hart Lane.

Catalan newspaper Sport claimed last week that Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez is edging closer to a move to North London, and was set to travel to the capital for a medical with Tottenham.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper was coming up through the ranks at Espanyol during Mauricio Pochettino’s time as their manager, and given Hugo Lloris’ recent injury, his arrival would be welcomed at White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, The Mirror reported over the weekend that Spurs were planning to make a move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco, who is far from a key player under Zinedine Zidane with the La Liga giants.

The attacking midfielder, 24, will be keen to play first-team football this season, and Tottenham were allegedly willing to offer it him in a season-long deal with a view to a permanent move next summer.

Ahead of the transfer deadline, La Liga expert Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that he and Espanyol are expecting goalkeeper Lopez to join Spurs after a loan deal was agreed – but he doesn’t think there’s much chance of Isco joining the club.

“A loan deal worth €600,000 has been agreed,” said Balague. “He has got to decide whether he wants to make the step. Espanyol expect that he will.”

“I don’t believe that at all,” he added on the Isco to Tottenham rumours. “Isco is understood to have turned down an offer from Juventus. But I expect him to stay.”
