According to reports from Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Championship side Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Napoli attacker Nicolao Dumitru.

Nottingham Forest took the controversial decision of selling Oliver Burke to Red Bull Leipzig recently and there has been a lot of anger amongst the fans regarding the sudden departure of the young star.

Amid the backlash from the supporters, Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has gone on to assure fans that the club will be looking to reinvest the funds generated from the sale of Burke to strengthen the squad before the end of the summer transfer window.

With only a few days remaining before the window slams shut, Forest will surely have to move quickly in order to bring in reinforcements to the City Ground and it has been revealed that one of the targets for the Championship side at the moment is Nicolao Dumitru.

Dumitru is currently plying his trade for Serie A giants Napoli but he has failed to establish himself as a regular at the Stadio San Paolo, spending time on loan at no less than six different clubs over the past few years.

It is now believed that Dumitru could finally be set for a permanent exit from Napoli this summer and Italian outlet Tutto Mercato have gone on to claim that Forest are keen on making a swoop for the former Italian Under-21 international.

Forest are not the only team interested in Dumitru though and the report state that the Reds will need to stave off competition from Spezia in order to sign the 24-year-old.

Dumitru scored only 7 goals in 34 appearances in the Serie B last season and it remains to be seen as to whether he will be successful in the English Championship if indeed he were to move to Forest in the next few days.
