HITC Sport understands Sheffield United close on defensive duo.
Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder
Sheffield United are closing in on the signing of Wigan defender Craig Morgan and Northampton Town full-back David Buchanan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is determined to bolster his squad before transfer deadline day after a slow start to their League One campaign.
The Blades have picked up just one win from their opening five League One games to date and Wilder feels he needs to add to his defensive options after conceding eight goals.

Wilder has held a long-term interest in Morgan and remains hopeful of agreeing a deal for the Wales international before Wednesday’s deadline.
Morgan has started all five of Wigan’s Championship games so far this season and it remains to be seen if Wigan will let the player move on without having a replacement lined up.
Wilder is a big admirer of left-back Buchanan having signed him and worked with him during his time in charge of Northampton.
Buchanan was virtually an ever-present for Northampton last season as they stormed to the League Two championship and Wilder is keen to be reunited with him at Bramall Lane.
