Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed is a loan target for Championship duo Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Reed is highly regarded at Southampton having come through the club’s famed youth academy, and made his debut as a 17-year-old in 2013.

Reed has found himself down the pecking order at St. Mary’s and has yet to feature under new Saints boss Claude Puel so far this season.

The England Under-20 international made just one Premier League appearance last season with his other two outings coming in the Europa League qualifiers.

Puel is considering sending Reed out on loan before the close of the transfer window so that he can get some regular football under his belt.

The news has alerted a number of Championship clubs to Reed’s availability, and Derby and Wolves are weighing up a move for the midfielder before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

Derby are in the market for midfield reinforcements with Jeff Hendrick on the verge of a move to the Premier League with Hull, while Wolves are looking to bolster their squad as they look to build a side capable of challenging for promotion.
