Middlesbrough winger Albert Adomah has turned down the advances of Aston Villa, HITC Sport understands.

The Ghana international turned down Boro’s offer of a new three-year deal last week – as revealed by HITC Sport – because the offer was below his expectations.

However, the 28-year-old is more than happy with life in the North East and is ready to battle for an improved offer after deciding against making a move to Villa Park.

Aston Villa and Boro had not agreed terms on the player, but the talks had begun and the player and his representatives were given permission to talks terms, but Adomah – whose his current deal due to expire next summer – decided against the switch.

Now talks are set to continue between Boro and the player, although there is still interest coming from Premier League sides Burnley and Crystal Palace, who could both yet make firm moves before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

Adomah was left out of Boro’s squad to face West Bromwich Albion on Sunday due to the contract wrangle, and Boro will now have to decide whether to select him in their final Premier League squad, which is due to be registered later this week – but if he does remain at The Riverside, it would seem unlikely that he would not be selected.

HITC Sport understands that regardless of whether Adomah stays or goes, Middlesbrough are still looking for another winger/forward to come in before Wednesday.
