Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has been quoted as saying by The London Evening Standard that Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has frightening pace.

Rose made the observation about the 24-year-old following the Premier League game between Tottenham and Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Commenting on his goal against the Reds, the England international left-back said, as quoted by The London Evening Standard: "I took a gamble, I didn't want to go forward too much because the pace of Mane is frightening but I managed to get in at the back post and to be honest I think I shanked the goal but they all count and I'm glad that it went in.”

Rose scored the equaliser for Tottenham in the 72nd minute after James Milner had put Liverpool in the lead from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute.

Mane had a good game against Spurs, especially in the first half, and gave a good account of himself. The Senegal international took one shot and created one chance against the North London outfit.

The 24-year-old was direct and quick in the first half, but he did not quite reach the same level in the second period.

Mane joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Reds had to pay the Saints a transfer fee of £34 million to secure the services of the attacker. It has been reported that the fee could rise to £36m.
