There is under a week to go until the transfer window closes and Leeds United will know one way or another the future of wantaway defender Charlie Taylor for the next few months.

Taylor handed in a transfer request at the end of July, and uncertainty remains over his future, although he has remained a regular in the side.

One club linked with making a move are Premier League new boys Middlesbrough, with the Yorkshire Evening Post this week naming them as an interested club.

Cardiff's FabioFabio da Silva

Their acquisition of Fabio da Silva earlier this month will have dampened their interest in Taylor, but last night’s game against Fulham could change that.

Both Fabio and first choice left-back George Friend went down with injuries in the EFL Cup loss to Fulham, and the Teesside Gazette report the club face a ‘selection crisis’ for this weekend’s fixture against West Brom.

Fabio’s injury is a ‘knock’, but Friend’s is potentially more serious, with Boro waiting on scan results.

The severity of the injury could force Boro into the market, with Fabio notorious for picking up injuries due to his playing style and failing to complete games, and they will need more than just him available.

With Taylor a transfer target, Friend’s injury could have implications for Leeds if it pushes Aitor Karanka into a late move, and they may become the club most likely to push for his signature.
