According to reports from Turkish outlet Fanatik, Liverpool have placed a bid of around £4.3 million for Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi.

Liverpool have not enjoyed the best of starts to their Premier League campaign so far and it is clear to see that one of the main problems plaguing the Reds at the moment is a very shaky defence.

The Reds have already conceded five goals in just two matches and due to the poor performances at the back, manager Jurgen Klopp could well be forced into purchasing a new defender before the end of the transfer window.

Recently, it had been claimed by the Daily Mirror that Liverpool were interested in Dutch international Bruno Martins Indi and that Klopp was attracted by the defender’s capability of playing in central defence as well as at left-back – especially given Alberto Moreno’s poor start to the season.

Liverpool seemingly stand a good chance of signing Martins Indi as he is not part of the plans at Porto after having been excluded completely from the club’s first three matches of the season, and the defender is also said to be eyeing up an exit from the Estádio do Dragão.

Now Turkish outlet Fanatik have gone on to provide an update to the story by revealing that Liverpool have already placed an offer of around £4.3 million for Martins Indi.

However, the report adds that Porto are holding out for a fee closer to around £6 million and it remains to be seen if Liverpool will be ready to match the asking price.
