According to the Mirror, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the likes of Sunderland, Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign Nottingham Forest’s Oliver Burke.

The report claims that a sting of Premier League clubs have already checked up on the talented winger and Forest are in a battle to keep hold of him ahead of the transfer deadline.

Burke came through the Forest youth teams and impressed academy coaches with his powerful running and ability to carry the ball over long distances.

While clearly still raw and lacking in experience, he has begun the season in impressive fashion and has looked far and away Forest’s best player with three goals in four starts.

His latest double in the entertaining 4-3 victory over Wigan Athletic has left Forest fans purring, though with only two years left on his current contract the City Ground crowd may not see him for much longer.

Burke, 19, is predominently a right winger but his ability to carry the ball and burst into space means he is just as apt in any position in the final third behind a centre-forward.

His powerful running style and burst of speed has drawn comparisons with a younger Gareth Bale, and his potential means there could be quite a scrap in terms of acquiring his signature.

The report accredits Arsenal, Sunderland, Liverpool, West Ham and Spurs as the teams watching over him, while Championsip side Forest will be looking for a fee in the region of £10 million.

Both the Hammers and Tottenham have in years gone by signed the Championship’s best talent to great effect, and with Burke it’s only a matter of time before the youngster makes his way to the top.
