When Spurs splashed out to bring Victor Wanyama to the club from Southampton this summer it is doubtful his goal-scoring ability was high on their list of requisite qualities.

But he finished with a close range header to earn all three points for Spurs at the Lane.
It was the Kenyan international’s first goal since joining Spurs this summer and he took to Twitter after the game to express his joy at scoring such a significant goal:
He was not the only one congratulating him on the goal.
Plenty of Spurs players also took to Twitter to revel in his first goal for the club.
Harry Kane, who set him up for the goal, had a message for him as did Erik Lamela – Tottenham’s goalscorer in the opening game of the season against Everton – whilst Jan Vertonghen was also congratulatory:
