Harry Forrester has told Rangers' official YouTube page that Joe Garner represents a good signing for the club.

The 28-year-old called time on his three-year stint at Championship side Preston North End to join Rangers on a deal which runs until 2019.

The English striker had netted 57 times in 148 appearances for the Lilywhites following his move in 2013, and Forrester, who has experience of playing against him, believes Garner will add something to the Gers' attack.

"I played against him for Doncaster a few times and he's a good signing," he told Rangers' official YouTube channel. "He gets goals which we need and he'll add something to Rangers."

Forrester was speaking after Rangers' 2-1 win over Motherwell at Ibrox, in which Kenny Miller struck a late winner to seal a come-from-behind victory for Mark Warburton's side.

Garner, Warburton's 10th signing of a busy summer for the manager, was in attendance to watch the visitors take a surprise first-half lead, but Forrester levelled up in the second half.

It has been a very decent return to the Scottish Premiership for Rangers, who have taken seven points from a possible nine.

With Martyn Waghorn still out injured, Garner might well make his debut on Friday when the Ibrox club visit Rugby Park for a clash with Kilmarnock.
