Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been busy this summer trying to push his team on in the transfer market this summer.

Vincent Janssen arrived to strengthen the striker options whilst Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has also been pursued. He also quickly identified Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama as a key transfer target.

The Kenyan international arrived at the club from Pochettino’s former club this summer and impressed on debut against Everton in the opening game of the Premier League season last term.

Now the Argentine has been describing his summer signing in the press, ahead of Tottenham’s game with Crystal Palace.

He is quoted by BBC Swahili as stating: "He is a beast.

“I know him well because I bought him for Southampton from Celtic.

“It is very easy to recognize these qualities."

The nickname 'beast' has of course been used to describe Wanyama before, by Tottenham team-mate Toby Alderweireld.

The term is certainly apt.

The midfielder is an incredibly strong and powerful athlete, who also has an incredible engine to thrive for 90 minutes in the midfield area.

Pochettino has known of these qualities for some time and clearly believed this summer that he would be welcomed in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield.
