Former player and current pundit Stan Collymore took to social networking site Twitter in order to praise Manchester United’s Juan Mata during his side’s 2-0 win over Southampton.

Question marks have been raised over the future of Mata following Jose Mourinho’s appointment, largely due to the fact the Spaniard was sold to United from Chelsea by the Portuguese coach, as reported by ESPN.

Mata, though, has featured in both Premier League matches for United so far, and his latest performance against the Saints was praised by Collymore, who labelled the Red Devils' attack the most exciting in recent years.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney dominating central positions, Mata has had to adjust his game slightly as he started the Friday night match against Southampton in a wide right position.

However, given licence to tuck in when in possession, Mata’s clever movement allowed right-back Antonio Valencia to overlap and create the width, and it was a tactic which caused the visitors problems.

The movement between Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Mata and Anthony Martial on the left was a joy to watch at times, and when all four click there won’t be many in the Premier League who can stop them.
