According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Arsenal forward Joel Campbell is set to join Sporting Lisbon on loan.

The youngster made his breakthrough into the Gunners first team last season, taking his chance among a raft of injuries to first team stars.

He ended up making 30 appearances in all competitions and impressed, scoring four goals and putting in several impressive displays.

He once again finds himself back down the pecking order though, with Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all ahead of him to start in that right wing position.

Indeed, it appears that Arsene Wenger has decided the Costa Rican does not feature in his plans for this season and is now set to sanction another loan deal.

According to O Jogo, Sporting made an offer to take him on loan for the season on Friday; a deal the Gunners were quick to accept.

They report that Campbell has already travelled to Lisbon to undergo his medical and a deal could be completed by the end of the weekend.

This latest loan deal will likely come as a disappointment for the forward, who will have been hoping his displays last season had convinced Wenger to give him a chance in this campaign.
