The performance of David Moyes’s side against City last weekend was not exactly bad.
There is still a lot of work to do, but the Black Cats should be optimistic of winning against Boro on Sunday afternoon.
Middlesbrough, who won promotion from the Championship at the end of last season, kicked off their 2016-17 Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw with Stoke City at home.
The display of Aitor Karanka’s side against Stoke at the Riverside Stadium last weekend was quite encouraging.
Sunderland are winless in their last 15 Premier League games in the month of August.
Middlesbrough are unbeaten in their previous 11 league games, drawing the last five.
