Writing in the Daily Mail, Jamie Carragher has admitted he would love Liverpool to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

England’s number one is expected to leave the Etihad this summer after seemingly failing to impress new manager Pep Guardiola.

He was dropped for the season opener against Sunderland last week and continued on the bench for their Champions League clash with Steaua Bucuresti in midweek.

An exit seems extremely likely as a result, with Sky Sports reporting that Everton are already in negotiations about a move before the end of the transfer window.

Carragher though, says he would love to see Hart making the move to Anfield instead as his pedigree would make him a tremendous addition for a club.

“Speaking as a Liverpool fan, I would love to see him come to Anfield,” he told the Daily Mail.

“His pedigree as a two-time Premier League winner and 63-cap England international cannot be faulted and he will be a tremendous addition for someone, whether in the Premier League or on the continent.”

It remains to be seen whether Hart does make a move away from the Etihad before the end of the transfer window.

A move to Everton would certainly be one that makes sense for all parties, given that he would be guaranteed first-team football at Goodison Park and they need a new number one.

They are sure to face a fight for his signature though, with many clubs likely to recognise the pedigree that Carragher comments on.
