The midfielder is the Gunners only major signing this summer.

Glenn Hoddle has told BT Sport that Granit Xhaka will have to learn to stay on his feet more at Arsenal.

The midfielder is a new signing at the Emirates this summer, having arrived in a big-money move from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Gunners are hoping he can add the kind of physicality and tough tackling that many feel has been sorely lacking in their midfield for a number of years.

That is definitely something Xhaka offers given he picked up more red cards than any other player in the Bundesliga last season.

Hoddle though, has warned him he must learn to stay on his feet more at Arsenal.

“He’s definitely one that needs to learn to stay on his feet a little bit more, from what I’ve seen of him in the summer at the Euros,” he told BT Sport.

“As a midfielder playing in that deep position you really need to be patient.”

It will certainly be interesting to see if Xhaka has a similar disciplinary record in the Premier League this year.

Arsenal fans would likely welcome the tough-tackling style he clearly employs, having taken quickly to Francis Coquelin when he broke into the first team and did a similar thing.

Arsene Wenger will want to see him temper that aggression somewhat though, lest he become a liability for Gunners.
