Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez in recent days.

The talented young Spaniard appears to have lost his place as the Catalan side’s number one stopper and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of the player from his time working for the La Liga side.

His current manager in Barcelona is former Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores. Speaking to the press yesterday, and as quoted by La Informacion, Flores has given little away on his player’s future. He does however insist that he remains in a good frame of mind:

"(It is) complicated. We will see what happens to us next week.

“Pau trains well and we feel strongly.”

A report in Spain yesterday suggested the Spanish keeper is all set for his move to Tottenham.

The report from Diario La Grada claimed he has unpacked his locker at the club and said his goodbyes to team-mates.

However, these quotes from Flores seem to suggest that his goalkeeper remains focused and available for first-team action with the club.

The report claims that Spurs will pay €600,000 for his loan deal, with a purchase option of €7 million.

An injury to number one goalkeeper Hugo Lloris means Michel Vorm is currently the number one at Spurs but the club are clearly keen to strengthen the position.
