Christian Benteke has told Crystal Palace’s official website that the club’s 'great' wingers were key to him making the move to Selhurst Park.

The Belgian joined the Eagles on Saturday, becoming their fourth signing of the summer as he completed a protracted big-money move from Liverpool.

The move brings about an end to a disappointing year at Anfield in which he struggled to break into either Brendan Rodgers' or Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

Much of his struggles came down to the Reds style of play, with neither playing in a manner that made the best use of out of him.

Palace’s style is more of a natural fit though, and he says that the wingers in the squad were key to him making the move.

“I was really happy to hear about his project and that is why I am excited to come here,” he told the club’s official website.

“I did my own research too and there are some great wingers here and because of that I think I can be a success here.”

It will now be interesting to see if Benteke can get his career back on track with Crystal Palace this season.

Alan Pardew clearly believes that he can be a big hit at the club given the price he has paid Liverpool to bring him to London.

There is no denying that his success will be dependant on the likes of Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha and it remains to be seen if the Eagles tweak their style to make sure that happens.
