Burnley recorded a surprise 2-0 win over Jurgen Klopp's side this afternoon, and their fans have voiced their excitement on Twitter.
Burnley's Andre Gray shoots at the Liverpool goal
Burnley have made a great statement at the start of their Premier League campaign by beating Liverpool at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Sam Vokes put the Clarets ahead inside 2 minutes, shooting home after Liverpool's Nathaniel Clyne lost possession, and dangerman Andre Gray put Burnley two up before half-time, after a pass from new signing Steven Defour put him through on goal.
Liverpool had 81% of the possession in the match and bountiful chances - but Burnley held on to claim their first points of the season.
Whilst this result is a blow for Liverpool, today may be the day that gives the Burnley side confidence to kick on and pick up the points they need to avoid a relegation scrap.
After the game, manager Sean Dyche was full of praise for the way his team battled to victory, and fans on Twitter have echoed the sentiments of the Burnley boss by complimenting their sides' performance.
Here are a few examples of tweets from ecstatic Burnley fans after today's match.
With the ball, and particularly without it, that was one of the best performances I've ever seen from a Burnley team #twitterclarets— Ryan Bury (@ClaretRaz) August 20, 2016
Excellent that. Restricted Liverpool to zero clear chances, Gray and Vokes scored two crackers and Defour fit in nicely #twitterclarets— Dr Harronz (@quoonbeatz) August 20, 2016
In awe of Clarets discipline and shape today. Each to a man stuck to their tasks magnificently. Liverpool had no answer. #twitterclarets— AJC (@Gingerclaret) August 20, 2016
