Southampton supporters react on Twitter to 2-0 defeat to Manchester United

Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic celebrates scoring their second goal

A Zlatan Ibrahimovic double saw off the Saints who wasted a whole host of chances in the first Friday night Premier League fixture of the season.

Two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic were enough to gun down Southampton 2-0 at Old Trafford on Friday night, with Jose Mourinho earning his first home win as Manchester United boss.

On a night where all eyes were on United's world-record signing Paul Pogba, it was another superstar in the form of Ibrahimovic.

The Swede stole the show with a thumping header from Wayne Rooney's cross and then a penalty after Luke Shaw was tripped by Jordy Clasie to put the Red Devils in a commanding first-half lead.

But in truth Southampton were made to pay for wasting chances, with the visitors missing countless opportunities to score and Nathan Redmond, once again playing alongside Shane Long in attack, unable to trouble a stern United defence.

Claude Puel will be disappointed his Saints side couldn't break United down given the number of times they broke through the hosts' midfield and a lack of clinical finishing may be food for thought for the Frenchman as the end of the transfer window edges closer.

Here's how Southampton fans reacted on Twitter to their 2-0 loss and it's fair to say it's drawn a mixed response.
