Rangers’ move to sign Joe Garner from Preston North End will not be completed by the weekend as previously thought, claim the Daily Mail.

The report suggests that Garner will undergo medical tests in Glasgow today (19/08/2016) but that no deal is likely to be concluded until next Monday because the striker has changed agents.

Garner will therefore not play any part in the game with Motherwell this weekend, or with current club Preston North End in their tie against QPR in the English Championship.

Rangers have been looking for another striker recently after an injury to Martyn Waghorn highlighted the frailty in the striker position at Ibrox.

STV reported earlier this week that a £1.5m deal has been agreed with Preston for Garner who, despite only scoring six goals last season was prolific in his previous two at Deepdale - scoring 51 times.

If Garner’s deal does go through as suggested on Monday his first game for Rangers could be next Friday’s clash at Kilmarnock.
