According to The Mirror, Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is closing in on a move to Everton after talks were opened over a loan deal.

Hart, 29, has been frozen out by new City manager Pep Guardiola, having been left on the bench for their opening Premier League game against Sunderland, as well as for the Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest in midweek.

Sky Sports report that City are set to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, which would push Hart down to third choice goalkeeper behind Willy Caballero.

With aspirations of keeping his spot as England's first-choice stopper ahead of Jack Butland and Fraser Forster, Hart needs to play first-team football – and he could end up joining a Premier League rival.

The Mirror report that City have given Hart the green light to join Everton, with his representatives now negotiating his loan move to Goodison Park.

Everton did sign Dutch veteran Maarten Stekelenburg to replace the outgoing Tim Howard, but whilst Stekelenburg impressed against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, manager Ronald Koeman could yet add a clear first-choice goalkeeper.

Hart fits the bill, and the player wants to stay in the Premier League rather than sign for Sevilla, who are also interested, meaning Everton are the clear favourites for Hart's signature.

However, Hart allegedly earns £120,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium, and Everton would need to meet that value to seal a loan move for the two-time Premier League winner, meaning there is still some work to be done before Hart can be considered an Everton player.

Do you think Hart would be a good signing for Everton?
