Fulham are reportedly hopeful of signing Norwich City defender Sebastien Bassong – according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Fulham want to sign the player on a reduced salary to his current wage at Carrow Road, but also want him to be released so they can sign the player on a free transfer.

Norwich are keen on letting Bassong go so that they can sign talented French youth international Jerome Onguene in from Sochaux – but the clubs are still not seeing eye-to-eye on how to structure a deal.

Fulham have had a positive start to life in the Championship under Slavisa Jokanovic this season and are looking to strengthen their back-line to continue their good form.

The Serbian worked with Bassong during his time in charge at Watford, where the Cameroonian excelled at Vicarage Road.

But the 30-year-old, who was relegated for the sixth time in his career last season, has struggled to get into the Norwich team of late – failing to feature for the club yet in the 2016-17 campaign.
