Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has told the club’s official Twitter page that his personal target this campaign is to concede fewer goals than last season.

Spurs conceded just 35 goals in 38 Premier League matches during the 2015-16 campaign.

“We just want to do better defensive-wise than last season,” said Vertonghen on Tottenham’s official Twitter page when asked about his personal target this season.

“That’s the thing we are looking forward to the most. We want to concede less goals than last season. That’s what we are going for, and that’s my personal achievement as well.”

Vertonghen has been linked with a move away from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The North London outfit’s performance in the first half against the Toffees was not great, but the Spurs players stepped up their game in the second period.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on London rivals Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane.
