BBC South American football expert Tim Vickery has given a fascinating interview into his career with ESPN Brasil based around his fandom of Tottenham Hotspur.

Usually quizzed on the latest wonderkid to come out of Argentina or Brazil, Vickery was instead asked for his comments on Tottenham's current squad, and had some interesting points to make.

The analyst had positive words about new signing Vincent Janssen, and believes he can be a very good addition, but he was more apprehensive about stars of last season Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

He said: "I saw Janssen, who was just bought. I liked, I liked. He adds something. He makes me continue to be optimistic.

"But I have a certain fear about some. I do not know if Alli will get lost on the way, I do not know if he has everything to be a solid figure. Growth can be very difficult, so it is a concern.

"And Harry Kane is still a mystery to me. I remember three or four years ago when he was the Europa League striker and was not seen as more than that.

"Then sometimes I watch it and think, "this is what you really are". But then he does a brilliant thing and surprises me. It's still a mystery to me."

Alli and Kane scored a combined 35 Premier League goals last season, but have come under pressure after a disappointing Euro 2016 campaign with England where they were tipped to star, and did not net.

In the first game of the season against Everton, neither Kane or Alli were particularly impressive, and will need to continue to try and shake off their poor summer.

Vickery went on to praise Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, and spoke of his hope that the team can turn around their tags as nearly men.
