Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott’s proposed move to Rangers is off, according to various media outlets.

It was reported by The Scottish Sun on Thursday that Lescott had agreed to leave Championship club Villa and move to Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers.

However, according to BBC Sport on Friday, the move is off after the 34-year-old defender failed his medical.

Sky Sports, though, have claimed that the former West Bromwich Albion centre-back turned down the move to the Ibrox outfit for family reasons.

Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has claimed on Twitter that Lescott did not have any problem with the medical at Rangers.
