Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is confident that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will stay at the club for at least two years, according to the Daily Star.

The maverick Swede joined the Red Devils from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, signing a one-year deal at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic has followed up his move with some impressive pre-season performances and scored the winner in United's Community Shield triumph over Leicester City.

He went on to open his Premier League account at Southampton on the opening weekend of the season.

As a marquee signing for United, the former Juventus and Barcelona ace has certainly proven how much of an asset he will be to United already.

Mourinho insists that Ibrahimovic has settled very quickly into life in England and that it is only a matter of time before the 34-year-old inks a deal to extend his stay in Manchester.

According to the Daily Star, Mourinho said: "I see him happy, I ask him every day, because I know how important it is for a family guy like he is.

"I ask every day about wife, kids, house, integration, and he is happy, everybody is happy, his motivation is happy.

"I have no doubt that he will be here for two years.”

Given the precarious nature of the one-year deal Ibrahimovic signed to join the club, Mourinho's comments should bode well with United fans, who have only had just a taster of what he can bring to the side.

Ibrahimovic is in contention for his competitive debut at Old Trafford when United take on Southampton on Friday night.
