Tottenham Hotspur attacker Heung-Min Son certainly had an interesting experience at the Olympic Games this month, as he experienced both highs and lows with South Korea’s under-23s.

He scored two goals in Brazil but his side were knocked out at the quarter-final stage by Honduras. They lost that game 1-0 to the Central Americans but most observers felt they should have won the game, had Son not been wasteful in front of goal.

Despite being criticised for his performance in that game his Olympic national team coach has leaped to his defence.

Shin Tae-yong is quoted by Yonhap News as stating: "Without Son's devotion, our team would have had a more difficult time.

"I don't want fans to blame Son."

Son faces an uphill battle at Spurs this season after missing the start of the campaign.

It was a tough first season for Son at Tottenham Hotspur and this summer he has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.

But it appears that he currently remains a part of Pochettino’s plans going forward, with Cameroonian Clinton N’Jie looking far more likely to be on his way out of White Hart Lane.

He will be hoping to find some form for Spurs after his mixed experiences in Brazil.
