Everton fans react on Twitter to Manuel Pellegrini rumours

Many Everton supporters seem underwhelmed by Manuel Pellegrini rumours.

Speculation has mounted (The Mail) that Everton have held talks with Manuel Pellegrini over replacing Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park.

The Chilean manager will leave Manchester City this summer after failing to earn a contract extension, with Pep Guardiola set to replace him at Eastlands.

By virtue of the fact he has won the Premier League title and two Capital One Cup crowns, it might be fair to say that the 62-year-old may represent quite a coup for the Toffees if they can recruit him.

But a lot of fans on the blue half of Merseyside are not convinced if their Twitter reaction is anything to go by.

Pellegrini, who has also managed Real Madrid, could face competition from Sevilla coach Unai Emery, who may already be well thought of by Everton fans after his troops denied Liverpool Europa League glory last Wednesday.

The Sky Blues finished fourth in the Premier League this past season, 15 points behind champions Leicester City, and ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United on goal difference alone.

Reluctance surrounding Pellegrini is a touch justifiable, given how he underachieved with the Citizens, but the reason he got the City job was because of how admirably he performed at lesser clubs such as Villarreal and Malaga.
