Lallana has been operating in a deeper, more central role this season.
Liverpool's Adam Lallana has said he is still learning the new role he has been given by Jurgen Klopp this season, with the 28-year-old now operating in a deeper, more central midfield role.
Lallana was used more as part of a front three last term but the Liverpool manager has decided he should operate as part of a central three - and it was used to pretty good effect during the opening day win over Arsenal as he was allowed to join the attack and get himself on the scoresheet.
The player told the official Liverpool website: "I've enjoyed it. I feel like I'm still learning the role and I'll probably still be learning the role throughout the season – you can always get better.

"But I've been watching different players that play in that position and it was great to play against Barcelona and some top teams in pre-season to get good run-outs against them.
"It's a different role but one I'll embrace and I'll play wherever the manager wants me to play as long as it benefits the team."
It is an interesting move, but probably not that surprising. Lallana was one of the first players to really adapt to Klopp's style of play when the German was appointed last October, and became one of the first names in the starting XI.

Technically is a very good player and the Reds don't have a player who can naturally control things in the middle of the park. There's plenty of energy and good passing ability but not really someone who can slow the game down a little and hold on to the ball. Lallana can do that and join the attack.
His goals tally has come under scrutiny during his first two seasons at the club but if his role is deeper and he is more of a support player then he perhaps isn't relied upon as much - though he did get off the mark for the season at the weekend.
It will be interesting to see just how much of an influence Lallana is on the side over the course of the season. There have been some real positives from displays in pre-season and the opening game with Arsenal, but also one or two examples when he has been caught in possession. But the more he plays there, one would think that he is likely to grow into the role.
